Hon. William Amankrah, the former NPP New Juaben North Constituency chairman candidate, donated medical equipment to the Dabi-Asem CHPS compound.
The equipment donated is a Multi-monitoring system which is a quick and accurate multiparameter.
The gadgets will check total human cholesterol, blood glucose, haemoglobin and uric acid.
Presenting the items on behalf of Hon William Amankrah, Miss Priscilla Tiwaa Ofori, who happens to be his aide said the health needs of the people were paramount, hence the gesture to support the facilities.
Miss Priscilla Tiwaa Ofori promised Hon William Amankrah will continuously support the facilities and called on health workers to be passionate about their work whiles ensuring a good relationship with patients.
The in charge of the health facility, Mrs Mavis Bentil, commended Hon. William Amankrah for the kind gesture and urged other private institutions to emulate it.
“We all see these things and think they are just gadgets donated by Hon. William Amankrah, but the number of lives they will save, the number of families they will help, very few people outside the hospital setting have a sense of how much this is going to help us,” she said.
“It is going to help our work; it is going to save lives. And each life that is saved, we cannot put a monetary value on that life; so what you have done is really a very big thing”
“This benefits both patients and professionals, apart from the fact that it helps to make our work easier. To this end, we say a big ‘thank you to Hon. William Amankrah for giving us this gift of life”
Nana Odame Boadu Ayeboafo, Manwerehene of Koforidua Asokore noted that the centre will need more support to make their work much easier and save lives.
He said: ” It is for God and country, no matter the pressure, you still have to keep it at the back of your mind that you are serving someone who is sick. A sick person is always under critical pressure and you need to handle them with care, and treat patients with passion and empathy, so that the facility maintains its good name” he urged the staff.
He said: “You can never say enough of ‘thank you’ – but like that the proverbial Oliver Twist, we are always going to need more. As you may be aware, this is a public institution; we don’t charge value for what we do because of our position and need to reach out to all, irrespective of their economic standing. As such, there is always a shortfall that must be somehow filled by government and well-meaning private institutions”
“We want more in order to provide the needed services”
“On behalf of the community health committee, we really appreciate what Hon. William Amankrah have done”
