Mr. Hopeson Adorye, a staunch supporter of the Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremanteng campaign has been hauled to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) National Complaints Committee (NCC) for violating the code of ethics of the party.
He has been the center of numerous media publications over recent ethnocentric comments pushing for the agenda of Alan Kyeremanteng to be elected as flag-bearer for 2024 elections.
In the said publications, Mr. Adorye sought to give account of the tradition of the NPP favoring Akan’s in its flag-bearer position.
Part of his statement read as follows
“The NPP has a tradition. Our tradition is Busia, Danquah and Dombo. Danquah represents Eastern Region and the bottom (south), Danquah represents Ashanti Region and the Bono areas, while Dombo represents Northern Region”
He continued: “whenever a Dankwa leads the party, the Busia side steps aside but there is a Dombo (for running mate), and whenever a Busia leads, the Dankwa side steps aside but there is a Dombo (for running mate). As for the Dombos, they are always there (for running mates).”
In a statement reacting to recent campaigns strategies adopted by leading members for their preferred individuals which the party frowns upon, the party through the general secretary has referred Mr. Adorye and the MP for Tafo Ekow Vincent Assifuah to the NPP National Complaints Committee for further action.
The Tafo MP was an avowed supporter of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for elections 2024.
