The president of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as part of his two-day thank you tour in the Eastern Region has had engagement with chiefs, Islamic Clerics, clergy and zongo Chiefs at Mpreaso.
In his comment, President Akufo-Addo questioned how a president who couldn’t manage power supply to stay for even 12-hours implement a 24-hour economy.
He cited the example of Kumasi Brewery Limited, which was forced to shut down and relocated to Accra due to frequent power outages during the tenure of former president Mahama..
The President questioned how a country can run a 24-hour economy when its power supply is inconsistent.
He also took a swipe at his predecessor, John Dramani Mahama, implying that his administration’s handling of the power sector was very poor.
“How can you run a 24-hour economy when you cannot manage your light to stay on for more than 12-hours”, he stated rhetorically.
President Akufo-Addo revealed that at the time Mahama was leaving power in 2016 , he (Mahama) left a lot of debt and so his performance is much worse than his (Akufo-Addo’s) own.
He gave some records of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia that have contributed greatly to the development of the country and insisted he is the right man for the job.
President Nana Addo is, however, urging everyone to vote for his vice president as he is the one who can build Ghana better.
