Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer candidate, has stated categorically that he’s into politics for his personal gains but rather driven by his passion for Ghanaians.
He said that because of his significant contributions to Ghana’s growth, he should receive support from the NPP leadership and that he has provided his services for the country’s change.
Dr. Bawumia spoke to party members and delegates over the weekend at the Donkorkrom, Afram Plains North constituency. “I am always driven by public service, not the desire for personal gains. “It is the reason I am offering myself, first to be elected flagbearer of our party, and then I can offer myself to the people of Ghana so that I can continue to contribute towards the transformation of our country.”
Dr. Bawumia claimed he had done a lot for Ghana in his capacity as vice president.
Some of these programs are One Constituency-One Ambulance, Agenda 111, the Digital Addressing System, the digitalization of ports, passport offices, and the DVLA. Others include the development of the e-Pharmacy platform, the money interoperability system, and the ghana.gov payment platform.
For the role of NPP leader leading up to the 2024 elections, Dr. Bawumia will face competition from Alan Kyerematen, Kennedy Agyapong, Francis Addai-Nimoh, Kofi Konadu Apraku, and others.
