Black Stars winger, Christian Atsu has faulted the playing body for their defeat to Ivory Coast in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations final.
The 29-year-old had a decent tournament emerging as the player of the tournament.
Despite his outstanding performance, Ghana was unable to end the trophy drought losing on penalties to West Africa Powerhouse, Ivory Coast.
The Black Stars throw away a two-goal lead in the penalty shootouts to lose painfully to the Elephants.
Six years after losing the trophy in Equatorial Guinea, Atsu insists the team gave the trophy away to the Ivorians.
Speaking to TV3, Atsu said, “I still don’t believe we lost that tournament. That trophy was like when someone gives you something; you just take it”
“And today I will say Ghanaians are right, whatever words they say to us, we deserve it because we gave the tournament away and it was really bad”
“Till now I feel very sad that I am 29, I’m growing and I’ve still not won the AFCON title, and it’s very sad,” he said.
