Deputy Captain of Dreams FC Abdul Jalilu has taken swipe at those calling for pay cut amid coronavirus crisis.
Following the suspension of football-related activities due to the outbreak of the disease there have been calls for players plying their trade in the country to follow the steps of the European players as they take a pay cut to reduce financial burdens on their various clubs.
This call has generated a lot of debate as to whether or not the salary of local players should be slashed.
Adding his voice to the debate is Abdul Jalilu who has kicked against pay cut among local players as he believes salary earned monthly is not enough.
In an interview with Accra based Vision FM, he said salaries of local players are not enough to even think of slashing it and has called on club administrators not to reduce their salaries.
“We should even cry for local players because they struggle a lot when it comes to salary issues. Most of the players are family men but the truth is that we are managing with what we get monthly because it is not enough”
“I don’t agree with those calling for a pay cut in the country because it is already not enough for us. We know they also struggle in paying our salaries but I will plead with them to maintain it for us” he said.
