Former Deputy General Secretary for the ruling New Patriotic Party, Nana Obiri Boahen says he does not waste his time following the Black Stars.
His remarks stem from Kwesi Appiah’s dual role as head coach of the Sudan national team and Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association.
Appiah recently stepped down from his role on the Ghana FA Executive Council due to a conflict of interest as cited by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) prior to the double-header between Ghana and Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Speaking to Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt FM’s Adekyee Mu Nsem, the outspoken NPP former top official disclosed not following the Black Stars in recent times due to dishonesty and insincerity among football administrators in Ghana.
“I don’t waste my time on the Black Stars. I follow foreign football because things are properly done there. You don’t have to waste your time on countries, where Exco member doubles as head coach somewhere and are being paired in same group. This means football administrators in both countries are not serious”
“I prefer monitoring the Bellingham’s, Lamine Yamal and others. There is dishonesty and insincerity among football administrators in these two countries”
“In any discipline society, Kwesi Appiah would have tendered in his resignation as Exco member after Sudan appointment. Sudan, on the other side is not a serious country because they should have ordered Appiah to quit his role from the GFA to avoid unpleasant situation”
“These situation tells you that both Sudan and Ghana are not serious country as far as football is concerned so you don’t waste your time on these two countries”
