Former Ghanaian Electoral Commission (EC) Chairwoman, Madam Charlotte Osei has spoken out about threats she faced while serving in that capacity.
She claimed to have received threats via email, though it’s unclear how the anonymous sender obtained the address.
She also mentioned that on occasion, calls from security services serve as a warning about her safety and the importance of taking precautions.
“There were threats through the mail. Sometimes the security agencies will call and caution you that there were some threats so be careful”.
She mentioned that her children especially went through a difficult time suffering abuse from people.
“My family had a very difficult time because I had young kids and sometimes, they were abused in school,” she told an Accra-based FM.
