Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools, CHASS has proposed that feeding of students should be the responsibility of the various schools instead of the Buffer Stock or any other different entity.
According to a member of the group, allowing schools to take responsibility of their food items will ensure value for money.
Mr. Peter Atta Gyamfi, the Eastern Regional President for CHASS and Headwater for Pentecost Senior High was of the view that would also help do away with unwholesome food items that are allegedly been supplied to schools.
“We are just implementers of government policies but in my own view, I support the call for schools to be given the authority to buy their own food. That will give us the power to complain anytime we receive foods we think are not unwholesome” he told Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt Adekyee Mu Nsem.
According to him, the current distribution chain leaves the various schools with no option to complain about the quality of foods supplied to them since they are not responsible for payments.
