“It is never true I took part of the money the Chief of Staff gave out to the family of late Madam Akua Donkor when we went there to inform government to officially announce the death of the Ghana Freedom Party founder and leader” Kofi Akpaloo has clarified.
Mr. Akpaloo rather revealed that he personally added Ghc20,000.00 to the earlier Ghc20,000.00 given by the Chief of Staff, Frema Opare, who received the delegation on behalf of the President.
Reacting to accusations of keeping part of the money on Bryt Adekyee Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney, the Ghana Liberal Party leader said he was the one who even lobbied for the Chief of Staff to give the family the said amount.
“After discussions and prayers, we bid farewell to others but I was quick to go back to the Chief of Staff to plead on their behalf for something to take care of their transport cost because I could tell from their actions that they were not financially sound. The Chief of Staff then brought out Ghc20,000.00 from her bag and gave it to me for the family”.
“I then took the family members of 2 in number to Afrikiko to eat and drink something. Afterwards, I personally added Ghc20,000.00 to that of Chief of Staff and shared about the family members” Kofi Akpaloo recounted.
