For a business to boom, many people have diverse ways to gain the attention of customers to be able to make money. Static and surprised I was when she confessed to me that she uses her make-up to allure her customers.
Sister Ama as she is affectionately called by her peers and in her business circle is a twenty-seven (27) year-old lady who resides in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua.
The relatively young lady in an interview with mybrytfmonline reporter, Asare Joseph averred that there has been low patronage in her line of business and in view of that, she mixes powdered black magic (juju) with her make-up when getting prepared for work.
“To be successful in a business is not an easy task. You have to strive hard to make ends meet. When I started this business some years ago, I decided not to support it with any spiritual forces but saw the necessity of it when a lot of people started coming in. There are more prostitutes but less patronage. In view of this, I consulted one fetish priest who assisted me by giving me a white powder which I mix with my makeup and apply on my face when going to work.
To be frank with you, this has helped me a lot. It attracts customers for me and that has made my business affluent. This spiritual backing serves as a pillar when executing my job. I have the notion that not everyone I have sex with is human and for that matter, make sure they do not use anything funny especially a handkerchief to clean me up after sex. I know the hazards of this job. And for that matter, I’m very particular about such petty but dangerous acts by customers” she disclosed.
Asked whether her parents are aware of the kind of business she does, Sister Ama responded that, her parents do not know what she does for a living.
“My parents know am in Koforidua working but as to what I do in particular they are not aware. I send them money every two weeks which makes them happy and to me, that’s all that they care about. Within a good week and with the help of my spiritual powder, I made over GH₵ 2,000. I send some to my parents, give some to my siblings in school and keep the rest. She recounted.
She added “I know I have learnt a bad profession but at least it is better than stealing. I work hard to pay for my bills and my upkeep. I mostly get healthy products to stay in shape because customers prefer neat and good-looking ladies. It is just not about the spiritual backing but also my interpersonal relationship with my customers also play a major role in making more money” She said.
According to her, most people in the prostitution business are not addicted to sex as people see it, some wish they could stop but because of the money they have been exposed to, they find it difficult to quit.
Sister Ama insisted “I have tried countless times to stop this business and learn a better trade but the more I try, the more customers keep calling me with huge offers. Even when am not feeling well, they still want me in their bed. This business has helped me a lot. It has given me room to meet a lot of people. I am only twenty-seven (27) but I have two (2) commercial cars which also bring me money while I have also bought land in Accra. I’m proud of what I have achieved in this business. I won’t say I love my profession but at least it’s my source of survival.” She divulged.
