Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko winger Michael Osei popularly known as ‘Ember Power’ has lamented that he was a threat for Hearts of Oak during his stint with the Porcupine Warriors.
According to him, he tormented the Accra based club whenever they take on their sworn rivals.
He said that the then head coach of Hearts, Jones Attuquayefio was always excited when he sees him been substituted off the pitch in a game between the two clubs.
Osei there again disclosed that he was more of a dangerous player than former teammate Charles Taylor.
Touching on the confederations cup final that they (Kotoko) lost to Hearts, he attributed their defeat to their coach Hans-Dieter Schmidt.
The Porcupine Warriors were beaten 8-7 on penalties after tying 2-2 on aggregate in front of their home fans at the Baba Yara Stadium.
“I have heard people saying that our coach at the time, Hans-Dieter Schmidt’s decision to change Taylor affected Kotoko but the truth is that Attuquayefio was always happy when I am been substituted,” he told Don Summer of Angel FM.
“I was a threat to Jones Attuquayefio. To be honest, Hearts of Oak wouldn’t have won the trophy if I had finished playing the game (Confederations Cup). I knew we were going to lose the game when he decided to take me off the pitch”
“I think the coach was at fault in our defeat. Don Bortey always claims that he tormented Kotoko likewise I did to the Phobians. Hearts feared my presence in games together with Stephen Oduro” he said.
