The suspect arrested by Police at Somanya in the Eastern Region for killing his wife at Gameli Guest House has admitted killing the wife in cold blood but with the excuse that he was possessed by an evil spirit hence must be forgiven.
Prosper Negble, 40, confessed to killing the wife in his caution statement to Police.
On Wednesday, April 13, 2021, the suspect was arraigned before somanya District Magistrate Court on a charge of murder. He was remanded by the Court presided by His Lordship Justice A Alafa to reappear for committal proceedings to continue before being transferred to a higher court for a full trial.
Somanya Police arrested the accused – Prosper Negble husband to the now deceased woman during investigation.
On Saturday, April 10, 2021, Akosombo Divisional Crime Officer, Superintendent Mrs. Sapati together with the Somanya Crime Officer, ASP Sylvia Esinam Aforkpah, and the Investigator, Sergeant Richard Eduah continued with the investigation in respect of the murder case of deceased Believe Sakitey and invited some family members including the husband of the deceased.
The accused husband was identified by three workers at the hotel as the one who came to lodge in the hotel with the woman.
One of them said she was sent three times by the suspect to buy something in a shop for him which made him curious.
The now-deceased woman, Believe Sakitey, 28, and the suspect who gave his name as Charles Tetteh to the receptionist, booked and checked into their room on Sunday, April 5, 2021, at about 3:00 pm to spend the night and check out the next day.
However, none of them could respond to a knock on the room when their checked-in time elapsed on Monday forcing the curious receptionist to open the door of the room which was not locked.
To the surprise of the receptionist, the woman was lying dead in a pool of blood on the bed but the man was nowhere to be found.
The Somanya Police were informed about the incident which investigators were detailed to the scene .
Later, a team of Investigators from the Regional Police Headquarters in Koforidua were also dispatched to the scene for crime scene analysis.
The investigators found in the hand bag of the deceased an identity card bearing the name Believe Sakitey.
The a knife which was stained with blood and wrapped in a black polythene kept under the mattress was also retrieved.
The body was conveyed to the Atua Government Hospital morgue for preservation as efforts are underway to arrest the suspect now at large.
