Boakye Kyeremanten Agyarko, an aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has shared his thoughts on the winner-take-all political system in use in Ghana.
He indicated he would appoint ministers from opposition parties if they met the requirements for the position while speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Show.
He acknowledged that the choice would be difficult, but he also said there would be discussion and consultation with his party’s leadership.
“I will appoint ministers from the opposition party with consultation and dialogue with my party’s leadership. Leadership is convincing people to go with certain decisions. It’s very tough being a leader but you don’t have to give up.
“When people oppose you there may be darker secrets that can be discovered through dialogue. With that, you’ll arrive at your destination.”
According to the former minister, Ghana needs a leader who can combat its greatest foe, poverty.
He emphasized that the NPP needed a grassroots leader and unifier to aid in the members’ healing and problem-solving.
