The leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, has stated that he is fully committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of journalists by means of his Ghana Media Fund (GMF).
He clarified that the GMF is a component of his social intervention plans and that its goal is to relieve journalists’ financial obligations and grant them financial independence.
On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, Mr. Bediako, also known as Freedom Jacob Caesar, made this declaration in the International Press Center in Accra while meeting with the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) leadership.
He emphasized that Mr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana, had wanted journalism to develop in the country and provide journalists with ongoing care. He also said that the New Force movement, which he leads, seeks to carry out Nkrumah’s wishes.
Despite not being a politician, Mr. Bediako emphasized that Ghana today needs his solutions to address its economic difficulties.
“I’m not a politician and I do not know anything about politics but I’m a leader, a leader with vision, that is what I have”, Freedom Jacob Caesar stressed.
He emphasized that a leader’s first concern, like his own, is to build a nation, whereas politicians prioritize the next election.
In addition, Mr. Bediako revealed his intentions to create a Silicon Valley-style technological hub in Ghana.
Citing the effect Jeff Bezos’s Amazon has had on job creation in the US, he thinks such a hub will greatly boost Ghana’s economy.
“We want to create a sustainable platform for technology hub in the country. When we have tech hub, we can produce iPhones in the country”, Mr. Bediako said.
