Former minister of gender, children, and social protection, Cynthia Morrison, has publicly stated that she would not abandon her spouse, even if she discovered him having an affair.
The former Member of Parliament for Agona West highlighted the strength of her marriage in an interview with Joy News, stating that she would rather concentrate on her current marriage than take the chance of entering a new and uncertain relationship.
“Even if you come and tell me you saw my husband with another lady, I will not leave him. Even if I go and see him with a lady, I will just pick him up and we will come home,” she said.
Mrs. Morrison clarified that she made her choice because she thinks that relationships need upkeep and work, just like anything else of value.
“I am telling you on national television because from there, I don’t know the next man I’m going to meet. He could be worse than my husband. So whatever you have, you polish it,” she said.
She made these remarks as she described the political difficulties she had while in office, including an incident in which Chris Arthur, a former staffer, allegedly persuaded voters that her husband had supported his choice to challenge her in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary.
Cynthia Morrison, who lost the NPP primary and went on to run as an independent in the 2024 parliamentary elections, failed to win the seat in Agona West.
