A member of the 8th Council of State under President Nana Akufo-Addo administration, Honourable Enock Teye Mensah has anyone who criticizes him for joining the council will see his comments on what he described as “Dustbin of History”.
According to him, the 1992 Constitution does not disqualify him from contesting the regional race and he expressed appreciation to electorates who trusted and voted for him to represent Greater Accra Region in the council.
In an interview with Accra-based Citi TV, Honourable Enock Teye Mensah said as Parliament is opened to Independent candidates and Political Parties, the same as the Council of State is but most people think members must come from the Political Party in power.
Honorable E.T. Mensah said despite being a member of the council of state, he will continue to be a member and founding member of the National Democratic Congress.
He said members of the council of state will advise President for the entire Country but not for a political party or group of people.
The former Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram constituency who served from 1996 to 2016, Enoch Teye Mensah was declared the winner of the Council of State elections in the Greater Accra Region by the Electoral Commission.
The former National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP beat competition from six others to emerge victorious in the election held on Friday, February 12, 2021.
The Council of State is to among other things counsel the President in the performance of his functions.
