Joseph Osei Owusu, often known as Joe Wise, a former member of parliament for the Bekwai seat, has revealed that he previously declined an opportunity to be a running mate.
Joe Wise, who currently chairs the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee, stated in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show that he is not interested in accepting a running mate position following the upcoming primaries, which are set for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
“I was offered a running mate position in the last election, but I refused. I will not accept a running mate position. I am 64 years; I have served the nation the best way I can,” he stated.
Joe Wise stressed that he is more concerned with bolstering allegiance to the state, which he feels is eroding, than he is with political titles.
“What is important to me is that we continue to encourage loyalty to the state. It’s getting worse by the day. That is what we should focus on, not positions. Those are not the things that matter to me,” he added.
