Former President John Dramani Mahama has responded to President Akufo-Addo’s statements that he (John Mahama) will demolish the wonderful things his government has done if Ghanaians transfer the reins of power to Mahama again.
While visiting the Wa Naa palace, President Akufo Addo made the plea that former President John Mahama not be considered for the position of successor, as he had already defeated him twice in two different elections.
In a speech to New Patriotic Party supporters at a small event in the Greater Accra area, the President stated that Mr. Mahama should not be supported in the future general elections scheduled for December 2024 because he would ruin his legacies if elected.
Nana Akufo encouraged those who were unable to register during the last registration exercise in 2020,
“The registration has started, I urge all persons yet to register to do so, your vote is your power.
“I can’t hand over to someone I defeated twice and is not happy with everything I do, he will destroy the work that I have done.
“Vote for Dr Bawumia, I have worked with him for the past seven and a half years, I have confidence in him, I know he can continue the good work,” he said.
Reacting to Akufo Addo’s comments, Mr. Mahama in a post on his X platform on Wednesday May 8, stated “Of course, I will not protect your ‘legacy’ of corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, bankrupt economy, increased unemployment, and pushing more of our people into the poverty bracket’’.
