The Acting Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has introduced a new method of crime prevention and detection as part of efforts to fight crime in the country.
Dr. George Dampare launched the Horse Patrol operations at the National Joint Operations Headquarters in Accra.
To him, the horse patrol operation is part of the Ghana Police Service’s method to curb crime and it will provide security in a friendly and interactive manner, with officers on horseback.
He added that it will enhance other patrol duties such as Community Foot Patrol, Motorbike Patrol, and Visibility Patrol.
On behalf of the acting Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General National Patrols Department (NPD), COP Yaagy Akuribah, instructed the Police Officers to demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of their duties for good services.
COP Yaagy Akuribah charged officers to assist in building trust in public confidence within the various communities.
He said Police Officers are the first to be called when it comes to security.
