The Inspector-General of Police James Oppong Buanuh has directed the Central Regional Police Commander DCOP Habiba Twumasi-Sarpong to initiate an investigation into claims that a Police officer has raided a public cemetery to exhume ten dead bodies in Gomoa Fawomaye.
Chiefs and residents of Gomoa Fawomaye in the Gomoa West District led by Odikro of the area Nana Okofo Kwakye Abeka Acquah III accused Superintendent Robert Kobi of invading the community with thugs to loot ten graves under the guise of clearing the area to build a house.
The chiefs explained that the Police officer informed them that he wanted land for a project, however, without authorisation, invaded the cemetery the next day to clear the place thereby exhuming ten dead bodies.
In a statement issued Thursday evening by the Ghana Police Service, the IGP urged the chiefs and residents to corporate during the investigation.
