Governance Expert, Dr. Isaac Asare has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, to continue serving the country with truth and honesty and not allow him to be influenced by political leaders.
Speaking in an interview with Abena Opokua Ahwenee on Dadi FM, he stated that a deviation from the truth can cause the failure of the IGP.
“He should work with nothing but the truth, he shouldn’t be influenced into being partial with certain people because they are politicians else he will fail”, he said.
This statement was in regards to Hon. Francis Xavier Sosu allegedly led a demonstration over poor roads at Madina on Monday, October 25th, 2021.
The Minister refused to heed the calls of the Police to assist them in investigations of his involvement in the protest.
According to him, the IGP should ensure that the laws in the country work effectively irrespective of whoever is involved in breaching the law.
“He should make the laws in the country work so that people will know that the power invested in him is being used for a good cause”.
He also stressed that the country has been in support of the activities of the IGP; hence he should not take advantage of the support.
“So far everybody has been applauding him for his good work so he should keep it up and not take advantage of that”.
He also encouraged the media to help in the broadcast of issues relating to politicians as they are the fourth arm of government in the country.
