The Mayor of Tamale Metropolis has revealed that the water crisis in Tamale is often triggered by illegal activities of some residents that results in the blockage of approved water pipelines to various areas.
According to the 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for the NPP, illegal pipelines are connected by these criminals to divert the flow of water into different homes and most of these people are using the water for commercial purposes, denying other residents the opportunity to be served or gain access to potable drinking water.
He has therefore called for collective public support in exposing such people within the Metropolis to enable the city ameliorate the annual challenge.
