Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has publicly said that he is a staunch supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and intends to stay with the party for the foreseeable future.
On Sunday, May 4, the Gomoa Central Member of Parliament made the comments while appearing on Channel One TV’s Upside Down.
He claims that his dedication to the NDC extends beyond the requirements of party membership.
“I am a member of the NDC. I have never inherited enemies. For now, I am enjoying my time with the majority. I see myself being a member of the majority for a very long time,” he stated.
A Plus emphasized that his associations and beliefs speak louder than documents, dismissing comments that cast doubt on his political devotion because he does not own an official party card.
“If I say I am a member of the NDC, they would say I don’t have a party card, but I am with the majority,” he noted.
He also used the occasion to compliment the NDC’s leadership, highlighting former President John Dramani Mahama in particular.
One of the main justifications given by A Plus for Mahama’s party affiliation was his vision and goals for the nation.
Since the 2024 elections, A Plus, who ran as an independent for parliament, has shifted closer to the NDC, igniting discussion over his political identity and prospects in Ghana’s party system.
