Ghanaian songstress Wendy Shay has stated emphatically that she isn’t an attention seeker and that she donated GH₵10,000 to K.K Kabobo on camera to raise awareness of the critical need for aid.
In an interview with Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Shay emphasizes that, while she frequently performs charity deeds in private, this public effort was designed to raise awareness about K.K Kabobo’s predicament and inspire people to contribute to his liver illness treatment.
Despite the criticism, Wendy Shay remained committed to philanthropy, lobbying for funding for K.K Kabobo, whose family publicized his liver ailment diagnosis in February.
“I do a lot of donations off-camera and give back to society. This particular gesture was different because I was actually calling people to come to his aid. I wanted to show people the actual situation so they would come forth with help” the musician explained.
Notably, additional prominent individuals have also sent money to support the musician, including the wife of Vice President Samira Bawumia, Former President John Mahama, and The Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO).
