On the commemoration of Ghana’s Independence Day, Imam Misbaw Sakah , the representative of the chief Imam in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Bekwai constituency, made a fervent plea to the government to uphold the anti-LGBTQ law, citing religious scriptures as the basis for his call.
Speaking passionately, Imam Misbaw Sakah emphasized that the enforcement of the anti-LGBTQ law is not only a legal matter but a moral imperative deeply rooted in the teachings of the Quran and the Bible. He urged the government to show mercy to Ghanaians by ensuring strict adherence to the legislation, which condemns homosexual acts.
Expressing concerns over purported external pressure, Imam Misbaw Sakah addressed rumors that foreign entities, particularly Western nations, were threatening to withhold financial aid if Ghana proceeds with the enforcement of the law.
In response, he asserted, “They should take their money because it is God who takes care of us.” This statement underscores his belief in the sovereignty of Ghana’s laws and the primacy of divine guidance.
Additionally, Imam Misbaw Sakah urged Ghanaians to exert diligent efforts in safeguarding the nation’s values and traditions. He cautioned against excessive reliance on borrowing, urging citizens to prioritize self-sufficiency and hard work as essential elements in fostering national prosperity and resilience.
