Former Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen has said that he strongly believes the IMF Support Package will restore confidence in Ghana’s economy.
Despite the fact that Mr. Kyerematen thinks some things may have been handled differently, he asserted that the foundation already set would aid in recovering the economy from its current challenges.
“My vision is to build a superstructure on this foundation that will bring prosperity to our nation, he said in a nationwide broadcast to officially declare his intention to contest the presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)”.
“The pre-COVID-19 performance of the Ghanaian economy, as well as the flagship initiatives such as the Free SHS, One District One Factory (1D1F) Initiative, Planting for Food and Jobs program, Agenda 111 project, and the COVID-19 Response initiatives, are all examples of the “strong leadership that the President has provided over the last six years” he stated.
Mr. Kyerematen expressed optimism that an IMF programme will help in restoring confidence in the economy and help put it back on track as expected.
“I have no doubt that the anticipated International Monetary Fund (IMF) Support Package will restore confidence in our economy, and bring it back to the pre-COVID levels,” he stressed.
