The immediate past Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa South Kojo Ofori-Safo has broken his silence after he was removed from office.
The removal of Kojo Ofori -Safo who served only two years in office has triggered protest by some NPP supporters in Akyem Apedwa
The aggrieved members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akyem Apedwa in the Abuakwa South Constituency in the Eastern Region on Wednesday morning went on a rampage to lock up the party office and burnt flags and paraphernalia of the NPP to express their displeasure.
President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo through the Local Government Minister, Dan Botwe on Sunday, September 19, 2021, nominated Akosua Asabea Annoh to replace Kojo Ofori Sarfo as Abuakwa South MCE.
The aggrieved supporters of the party are incensed hence the agitation and threat to boycott 2024 elections.
Speaking for the first time in a Statement issued after the disturbance, Kojo Ofori -Safo thanked President Akufo Addo forgiven him the opportunity to serve.
“It’s been an incredible two years and more working with you to improve the lives of our people. The outpouring of support and cooperation received was heartening.
I am grateful to His Excellency the President, Osagyefo, Hon Samuel Atta Akyea, traditional heads, my party members, and all for this opportunity to contribute my quota to our quest for development. I am grateful to every one of you, from Hon. Assembly Members to Department and Unit Heads and everyone else on the team”
“I hope that you will extend the same courtesies to my successor and nominee, Madam Akosua Asabea Annor. I also pray for God’s guidance and protection in the performance of her duties. Thank you all very much”. He said
