Pastor Leuitenant P. N. K. Duodu, a Chaplain at Burma Camp has proposed for inclusion of basic military training into the National Service Scheme to inculcate maximum discipline in the Ghanaian youth.
According to the military officer, such an initiative will help deal with the high rate of indiscipline among the youth and also raise the standard of patriotism in whatever they do to benefit the country.
Speaking at the 25th anniversary of the Adweso branch of the Seventh – day Adventist (SDA) church, Lieutenant Duodu expressed worry at the high rate of indiscipline across all sectors of the economy, being in politics, at workplaces, religious circle, on social media, and many other mediums of our lives.
He indicated that it is time to act as a country to protect children and unborn ones and proposed basic military training as the greatest tool to deal with the issue at hand.
On the assertion that soldiers will find it hard to make it to Heaven due to their involvement in missions that sometimes lead to the loss of lives, he responded by saying that, every good Christian soldier will have the opportunity to be at the Holy place as Jesus Christ himself engage soldiers in his mission according to the Bible.
President of East Ghana Conference of the church, Pastor Dr. S. Bonye Arloo in his remarks also touched on the theme: “Back to our Roots, Do not forget the ancient landmarks”, and advised the youth to do away with social vices as such attitude will keep them away from God and thereby losing the opportunity to go to Heaven.
Pastor Pharm George Atara Boye Jnr of Gabson Pharmacy touched on an ultra-modern research base library to be constructed to serve the clergy and the entire members as well as the Adweso community.
