The Concerned Drivers Association in Ghana has expressed their concerns on the increase of fuel by the government in the country.
Per the analysis, the fuel tax has increased from 2.6, 1.7, 3.9 to 7.3 percent; this is from January to May 2021.
In an attempt to eliminate the tax increment, they have decided to increase the transportation fee by Forty Percent which has alarmed Ghanaians.
According to a Member of Ghana Committed Drivers, Charles Danso, he has stated that there is no way the drivers will be allowed to increase their fare by that percentage because the authorities will not permit it to happen.
“There is no way the drivers can increase the transportation by that percentage because it won’t be allowed by anyone in the higher positions, the same drivers will meet with the government and terminate the decision”, he said.
Speaking in an interview with Abena Pokuaa Ahwenee in Dadi FM, 101.1, he advised that the concerned drivers should have disapproved of the increment in tax instead of taking an alternative decision that will never materialize.
“We should strongly refute that increment in fuel prices than trying to make your own decision, once you’ve been quiet about it they will make decisions for us”, he added.
He stated that as a country, we shouldn’t allow politicians to impose certain taxes on us because they take advantage of our meekness.
According to Charles Danso, the concerned drivers should have kept their increment a secret instead of announcing it.
“They should have just implemented it instead of announcing it because by announcing it, they will have the chance to thwart your plans”, he insisted.
