Rt. Rev. Dennis Joseph Boadu, the Methodist Bishop of Koforidua Diocese, has emphasized that infrastructural development alone is insufficient for national progress.
He stressed that such development must be accompanied by high moral standards rooted in the teachings of the Bible.
Speaking in an interview after ministering at the Ascension Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Koforidua, Bishop Boadu highlighted the importance of grounding governance and societal values in biblical principles.
He noted that while government appointees are sworn in with the Bible, they must go beyond the symbolic act by reading and abiding by the Word of God.
The Bishop’s remarks were made during the climax of this year’s Bible Week celebration, an annual event instituted by the Bible Society of Ghana.
The celebration, observed from February 3 to 10, was held under the theme, “The Bible and Unity for Nation Building.”
Elder Frederick Darfour of PIWC-Koforidua who is an Eastern Regional Oversight Committee Member of the Bible Society of Ghana, echoed the importance of the Bible in nation-building.
He described the Bible as containing the mind of God, revealing the state of humanity, the path to salvation, the fate of sinners, and the joy of believers.
Stephen Awaga, the Eastern Regional Manager of the Bible Society of Ghana, celebrated the success of the weeklong event and encouraged Christians to patronize and read Bibles translated into their local languages.
