The Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Mr Kwadwo Daase has said that introduction of prepaid meters will end bad conduct among its customers in the country.
According to the Public Relations Officer, the GWCL will soon embark on an exercise to disconnect illegal water pipelines.
In an interview with Bryt Fm correspondent, Nhyiraba Nartey Solomon, Mr Daase affirmed that bad conduct among its customers in the country is quite worrying.
“We will visit our customers with security personnel who prevent our workers from entering their houses for a water audit,’’ Mr Daase said.
He invited customers to their office to settle their arrears, hence the GWCL will take them to court for deliberation.
Mr Daase indicated that persons found to have engaged in illegal water connections will be arraigned before court.
Meanwhile, the Sector Minister, Cecilia Dapaah, in announcing the measure to reduce revenue losses said the ministry was in the process of finalizing details of the program.
Madam Cecilia Dapaah mentioned that her outfit will collaborate with the Ghana Water Company Limited (GAWL) in rolling out the initiative.
“I know most Ghanaians are honest, but the bad nuts must be exposed. Even the date is a secret one because we don’t want people to look at the schedule; disconnect when we are coming around and connect when we are off,’’ she said.
