The Single Window Citizens Engagement Service (SWCES) stands as a vital component of Ghana’s social protection system, serving to streamline grievance redress for key social protection programs while offering a singular entry point for beneficiaries of major social protection initiatives.
Despite SWCES’ pivotal role, it has identified a concerning trend – the lack of awareness among Ghanaians regarding its existence, thus hindering individuals from seeking the support they may desperately need.
In response to this issue, SWCES is held a one-day workshop on Thursday, 15th February 2024, to train and sensitize selected regional and district Information Services Department (ISD) officers on the intricacies of SWCES operations and its utilization at various levels – from the district to the household – within communities.
The objectives of this training was to:
- Cultivate consensus among ISD officers regarding the messaging strategy for the forthcoming SWCES awareness creation campaign.
- Foster deeper collaboration and coordination between SWCES and its stakeholders, ensuring a more unified and effective approach towards addressing social protection needs within Ghanaian communities.
In a welcome address read on behalf of the Ag. Director for Social Protection Secretariat, Madam Abena Annobea Asare, the Principal Social Development Officer, Mr. Samuel Boakye Marfo expressed his gratitude to the ISD official whiles adding that, the presence of SWCES would help improve lives especially for the vulnerable and the poor.
‘This makes it critical to leverage on the Information Services Department (ISD) to create awareness on SWCES, for people to understand how it operates and the benefits they can derive in using it,’ he noted.
Mr. Samuel Boakye pledges on the Ministry’s readiness to work with ISD to create awareness on SWCES in all the districts, in order to make sure no one is left behind in the national growth and development.
The Head of SWCES, Madam Naa Dedei Antie urged the participants to learn the SWCES message well so that they can inturn communicate effectively with the public.
On her part, the Ag. Director for Information Services Department, Dr. Nafisah Mahama was optimistic that the ÌSD officers will deliver effectively on their mandate.
