The Vice-Chair of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defense and Interior and Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency, Ophelia Hayford has said her outfit will present its report to the Speaker of Parliament on Tuesday on the Kumasi Islamic SHS disturbances.
To her, the Committee will present its report to Parliament as directed by the Speaker.
The Speaker of Parliament tasked the Committee to investigate last Monday’s protest at the Islamic Senior High School in the Ashanti region that led to unforeseen instances with some students and teachers being injured.
Over 30 students from the school were hospitalised last week after they were met with police alleged brutality that included the use of tear gas and the firing of live bullets.
The students were protesting over the incessant knockdowns of their colleagues and teachers due to the unavailability of speed ramps to check the excessive speeding by drivers in front of the school.
The situation has created a lot of diverse views as many Ghanaians have accused the police of dealing with the issue without professionalism.
Meanwhile, some police Heads have been asked to stand aside pending investigations but Ghanaians seem not to be happy with the development until punishment is melted out to those found culpable.
