Former Bechem United striker Hafiz Konkoni has opened up on the rampant departure of players from the Ghanaian leagues.
The mass exodus of players in the domestic top-flight league has affected the standard of the Ghana Premier League and other leagues in the country.
Most players who turn out to perform well join other clubs on the continent or move to Europe for greener pastures.
Speaking to Koforidua-based Bryt FM, Konkoni, who recently joined Olympic Azzaweya insists it will be tough to get rid of the rapid departure of players from the local scene due to inadequate funds.
“It will be difficult to curb player exodus in Ghana. Football is like lotto, it’s either you gain or you lose and truth be told, players playing their trade in the local scene are struggling so if you get a juicy offer you just have to leave”.
“We can only get rid of it if we pump in more money. Clubs in Tanzania are financially sound because they are being fund by companies here. Ghana is far ahead of Tanzania in terms of talent just that they are financially sound. It will even take time for us to reach their level because of how things are done here”
