Former Hearts of Oak and 1978 Africa Cup of Nations winner, Mohammed Polo has backed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) decision to annul football season in the country.
The Ghana FA’s executive council after a marathon meeting yesterday decided to annul the season which had been suspended since March 16 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The decision is deemed as devastating for a football industry that was about finding its feet after close to 2 years on non-competitive action due to a period of normalization after the Anas Exposé.
Many football connoisseurs rooted for cancellation of the season as they cited as practically impossible for football to resume in the circumstances the country found itself in.
Despite that, the former Hearts of Oak trainer has thrown his weight behind the Ghana FA despite some clubs expressing worry about the league truncation.
Speaking to S.K Ntim of Bryt FM in Koforidua, he said, “It was clear that the season will be canceled. I think it’s a laudable idea from the FA but they should start thinking about the future of the game ones the season has been canceled”
“We have to also know the FA’s plan for next season. Nobody should doubt it because we cannot play while coronavirus persists” he said.
