The Education Director in charge of the Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern Region, Rose Yaa Akanyi has said it is a wrong mentality for Teachers in Public schools to send their kids to private schools.
She noted that some Teachers in Public Schools teach children as if they have nothing to achieve but Teachers in private schools are dedicated to their course.
Speaking at the sixth quadrennial and 53rd District Delegates Conference organized by Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) in West Akyem Municipality, Madam Rose Yaa Akanyi called on Teachers to do away with selfishness and see children they teach as their own and noted that Teachers are called to teach, develop brains and skills.
At the end of the conference, Mr. Yaw Tengey was given another four-year term in office as Chairman for the West Akyem Municipal and Upper West Akyem District of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT).
He went to the contest unopposed and was massively endorsed by Yes vote by delegates in a Conference held in Asamankese.
Other leaders who were elected are; Mrs. Priscilla Ofori Karikari as vice-chairperson, Justice Dankwa Agyemang as Trustee, Emmanuel Amponsah as Treasure, Edward Boafo Agyei as Youth Coordinator, and Salomey Duah as GNAT-LAS.
The rests are Isaac Asare as Basic School Coordinator, Daniel Botwe as Education Administration Represent, and Baidoo Kussah Christopher as Senior High and Technical School Representative.
Mr. Yaw Tengey called on newly elected leaders to dedicate them and serve the Teachers with Humility.
