Jehovah’s Witnesses have held their 2024 ‘Declare the Good News’ convention program to comfort and encourage the public at Koforidua-Nyamekrom in the Eastern Region.
The 2024 convention program was a three-day live event open to the general public to deliver good news to combat bad news streams on social media, television, and radio stations.
The free program by the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the largest convention organization in the world, was a much anticipated motivational program to inspire its members in the area.
The free event was expected to draw more than 450,000 combined attendees from locations in 13 local languages, including English, Ghanaian sign language, and others.
Eric Brako, the Eastern Regional Spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses, highlighted in a statement ahead of the program that the convention will be presented in bible-based videos, discourses, and interviews on topics such as everlasting good news, what to do ‘for the sake of the good news, and why not to fear bad news.
Mr. Brako indicated that prior to each convention, local congregations embark on a campaign to invite community members to the free event.
Many participants from Suhum, Nkawkaw, Tafo, and different areas in the Eastern region participated in the convention. Last year, nearly 13 million people attended more than 6,000 of the three-day conventions worldwide.
Speaking in an interview with Nhyiraba Nartey Solomon of Bryt FM during the convention, some participants expressed that the convention program uplifted them spiritually.
The delegates indicated that the program has served as an opportunity to strengthen their faith and learn more about Jesus Christ.
They promised that they would demonstrate a good life by pleasing Christ Jesus and putting what they had learned into practice.
The topics include everlasting good news—in what sense?, what will you do ‘for the sake of the good news”? and why we don’t fear bad news.
