A 19-year-old Junior High School Student has committed suicide by hanging at Asante Akora a suburb of Nsawam in the Eastern Region.
Father of the deceased, Moses Kwaku Agyare accompanied by the unit committee member of the area Kwame Ayisi and one Paul Ansah reported at the Nsawam Police Station that the deceased Joshua Mensah was found hanging on a tree at the back of the house.
Police together with the complainant visited the scene at Asante Akora and found the deceased hanging in a nylon rope on a pear tree in a garden.
The body was found wearing a light blue sweater and deep blue shorts. On inspection, bruises were seen on the neck, with a protruding tongue.
The distance between the tree and the neck measured 6 inches, from the foot to the ground was 5 inches, and from the tree to the ground measured 6ft, 12 inches.
The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sargent Francis Gomado said, preliminary investigation reveals that deceased went to sleep with his four other siblings but on the next day off June 6, 2020, about 5:30 am, father of the deceased woke up only to detect that the son was not in bed.
He started looking for him only to find the body hanging on a tree in the house.
Sergeant Francis Gomado said, the body was photographed, after which it was conveyed and deposited at Nsawam Government Hospital morgue for preservation.
