Ghana coach CK Akonnor is reported to have handed call ups to Jonathan Mensah and Mubarak Wakaso ahead of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome Principe.
The Black Stars of Ghana will play South Africa on March 22 before hosting Sao Tome and Principe in the final Group C qualifier on March 30.
Last week, the former Asante Kotoko trainer named a 32 provisional man list comprising of the locally-based players to prepare for the upcoming games as they believe they might not get the service of most of his key players due to coronavirus restrictions in most of the European countries.
According to reports, the duo has been invited to join the home-based players in camp since they are currently in the country for holidays waiting and preparing for the commencement of the new season.
Jonathan Mensah incredibly won the Major League Soccer trophy as the skipper for Columbus Crew in the just-ended campaign whiles Mubarak Wakaso was also an integral member of Jiangsu Suning in the Chinese Super League.
The U20 World Cup winner has been without a call up into the national team since AFCON 2019 but the former Alaves combative midfielder was part of the last squad that played against Sudan in the same qualifiers.
The Black Stars of Ghana will take on South Africa in Johannesburg on March 22, before they wrap up the qualifiers with Sao Tome and Principe at home also on March 30.
