Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the spokesperson for National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama, has reacted to President Akufo-Addo’s recent comments against the outgoing President.
She asserts that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will not become the future President of Ghana as a result of Akufo-Addo’s criticism of Mahama.
On Tuesday, October 15, President Akufo-Addo addressed the problem of illicit small-scale mining, or galamsey, and urged Mahama to clarify his stance during a “Thank You Tour” in the North East region.
He questioned Mahama’s position over the application of the laws prohibiting galamsey.
“Today, he [Mahama] said that he doesn’t believe in jail, that he’s against galamsey, and he will enforce the law. So once again, we have to ask ourselves, Mr. JM, where do you stand? What are you telling the people of Ghana?”
Akufo-Addo also reiterated his commitment to fighting illegal mining, saying, “When I said I was putting my presidency on the line, I meant I was prepared to take the political risk involved in trying to deal with this galamsey phenomenon.”
In response, Ms Mogtari took to her X (formerly Twitter) saying, “Desperate Nana Akufo-Addo should know that his misguided attacks on John Mahama will not make Dr. Bawumia President”.
