Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has disagreed with calls to reduce players’ salaries following the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
According to him, the salaries the players take in the local league is nothing to write home about hence, no need to slashing it.
“Which player in Ghana will accept this, how much do we earn for them to slash it. Some players even earn as low as GHC150, how much will these players earn after this pay cut” he questioned?
The Ghana Premier League season has been halted until further notice which has left many clubs finding it difficult to pay their players.
The COVID-19 pandemic has frozen football activities in the West African country almost shutting down all of its revenue streams.
While no football activity is on-going in the country it is expected that the books of the club will suffer a hit.
