The General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, disagrees that President Akufo-Addo’s ministry reshuffle on February 14 was a pointless exercise since it occurred too late in his presidency.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), among other members of the public, referred to the exercise as a “injury time remix” and said it was “insipid and uninspiring.”
On February 14, Kodua Frimpong disagreed with the viewpoint during an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News on Citi FM.
Nine months, he claimed, is still enough time to have an effect.
“In a political circle, that is a long period for someone to make positive impacts in the ministry that he or she finds himself or herself. I always use Bryan Acheampong as an example. When he became the minister of agriculture, it did not take weeks for us to see his handiwork; he was doing well in the ministry.”
“For me, we are in February, and whether it will take the person one month or two months to understand, they also have ideas and will execute them, and the budget too has been passed, so it is left with making sure that the visions and policies of the government are implemented.”
