Ghana U-20 coach Karim Zito is saddened by the cancellation of the U-20 FIFA World Cup tournament.
The Black Satellites reached the final of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations as they beat Gambia 1-0 in the first semifinal game played at the Olympic Stadium on Monday.
The final four countries at the U-20 AFCON secured qualification to the FIFA world cup but unfortunately, the competition has been cancelled by the world football governing body due to the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus pandemic that wrecked the world.
However, Karim Zito’s post-match conference expressed worry about the cancellation of the competition as he wanted to have a feel of the world cup as a coach.
“We won so we are happy but the only sad story is we are not going to the World Cup”
“I had wanted to visit the world and see how nice and beautiful it is to play in the world cup. But both of us are proud that at least we have qualified for the world, is a history that will be laid down that 2021 there was U-20 AFCON, these countries qualified for the world but due to covid-19, it was cancelled” he concluded.
