The campaign coordinator for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s campaign team for Northern Region, Alhaji Hussein Abubakari (Baba Gushegu) has said that the NPP flagbearer hopeful for 2024 elections support for the party’s 2020 parliamentary candidate helped in winning the seat for the first time.
The coordinator made the revelations when when he appeared on radio Tamale’s evening political talkshow dubbed – Yelvuhi Dundongni on Saturday’s night, March 18 with Abdul Shakur Omaen.
“Hon. Ken is more than capable to be president of Ghana. What he has done for the party (NPP) and Ghana as an individual, non of the persons interested in leading the party so far has done it”, Alhaji Baba Gushegu told the listeners.
“When TTH was having challenges with regard to electricity, it was him (Ken) who came to their rescue with a generator. And it saved the situation from deaths. Another case is Mion constituency. This was a known NDC seat. But he took the campaign there and did a lot for the people of the area, resulting in the victory. And even after the elections, he fulfilled his promises of renovating a school block that was a headache for the people in Mion”, he added.
He however hinted that the Ken Agyapong’s campaign team in the Northern Region has competent coordinators across the region to ensure the achieve their target in the upcoming presidential primaries.
So far, the vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawunia, former trade minister, Mr. Alan Kojo Kyeremanteng, former agric minister, Dr. Akoto Afriyie have declared their intentions to contest the NPP flagbearership race for 2024 elections.
