Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga has joined the crisis-hit government of President William Ruto, taking four ministerial posts, including finance and energy ministries.
This marks the first time the opposition has served in government since Odinga’s 2008 prime ministership.
Ruto’s decision comes amid over 50 deaths in protests, with most being shot by police.
Odinga’s reasons for not taking up a post remain unclear, but it may be due to his vying for the African Union Commission chairmanship.
