Kenya’s finance ministry announced today that it will seek suggestions from the public on new legislation to boost revenue and address various challenges.
This follows the government’s withdrawal of its financing bill due to deadly protests.
Finance Minister John Mbadi, after initially suggesting reviving some tax hikes, ruled out restructuring the country’s debt, which exceeds World Bank and IMF recommendations.
He also pledged to consider future tax cuts, including reductions in value-added tax and corporate income taxes.
