In Kenya, A Malindi court has allowed the police to hold controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie Nthenge for 14 more days.
The added time would give police time to complete investigations into the preacher’s alleged cult-like activities believed to have led to the deaths of six persons through starvation.
Nthenge, the leader of the Good News International Church, will be held in custody alongside six followers while another seven, victims of the pastor’s alleged cult-like teachings, will be held for seven days for counseling.
In addition, chief Magistrate Elizabeth Usui canceled a 10,000 Kshs (€67, $74) police bond granted to Nthenge in an earlier case in which the preacher is accused of causing the deaths of two minors through his influence.
