Kenyan gay rights activist Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo, who was known as Chiloba, was buried on Tuesday at his father’s home in Sergoit village, in the western part of the country.
Hundreds of people have paid respects to the murdered 25-year-old model and fashion designer.
His body was found dumped in a metal box by the roadside near the town of Eldoret in early January.
A pathologist’s report says Chiloba died as a result of suffocation.
The police have detained five suspects, including Chiloba’s partner, but none have been as yet charged.
Chiloba’s murder has drawn global condemnation, with human rights groups linking it to his sexuality.
Although the police have not yet given a motive for the killing.
