A policy think thank, Institute for Political Administration and Development (IPAD) Ghana, has condemned the Ghana Airport Company Limited for spending GHc118,000 on Christmas trees and decorations this festive season at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
According to the C.E.O of IPAD Ghana who doubles as an anti-corruption campaigner, Mr Amankwaa Nathaniel, it’s frivolous and unpatriotic to spend such an amount at the hardship state of the current economy.
Such acts provoke Ghanaians and develop hatred among the citizens and the authorities.
The unemployed class, the likes of NABCO beneficiaries, Teacher and Nursing Training allowance beneficiaries whose monthly stipends have not been paid for several months will be disappointed and grieved to hear such mismanagement of taxpayers money.
Government institutions should consider value for money in any procurement they make. Protecting the public purse shouldn’t be an oral slogan but a practice.
